Prices of construction materials remain stable in December

Prices of construction materials were down in five product groups in December 2011 but remained more or less unchanged in six others, according to the
Polskie Sklady Budowlane (PSB) group.
In December 2011 the following products were cheaper compared with November last year: thermal insulation (-3.6%), dry construction (-3.3%), construction chemicals (-2.4%), gas concrete (-1.8%) and silicates (-1.3%).
Meanwhile, in the "other" category steel products rose in price (3.3%) and paint, varnish and wallpaper were also more expensive (0.6%). On the other hand, heating, ventilation, drainage and sewage systems and technology declined in price during this period (-0.6%). Prices of lime and cement, ceramic tiles, kitchen and bathroom fittings and fixtures, sett paving, fencing and gates remained unchanged during this period.
In December 2011 PSB reported a 23% drop in sales of construction materials compared with November this year. At the same time, sales were 29% higher than during the same month of 2010. The company's sales for 2011 as a whole were up by 21% compared with the previous year.
