The company
DTS has announced a tender to build the final missing fragments of the Drogowa Trasa Srednicowa (DTS) road in the Katowice metropolitan area. The tender concerns a stretch of the road in Zabrze.
The Silesian DTS road (voivodship road No. 902) is a three-lane artery of key importance to the transport system in the Katowice urban area. So far two sections of the road with a combined length of 15.5 km have been completed and fragments totalling 15.8 km in length are awaiting construction. The tender covers two sections running from the centre of Zabrze up to the outskirts of Gliwice more than 2.9 km in length altogether. Besides the road itself the investment will also involve building a road junction connecting the route with Roosevelta Street, a road tunnel along Jaskolcza Street, a flyover above the railway line and a bridge over the Guido stream. Bids in the tender will be accepted up to 23 February 2012.
Further tenders to build sections of the DTS road in Gliwice will be held in March and mid 2012. If everything goes according to plan, the construction of the road as a whole is to be completed by 2014 or 2015. Financing for the project will come from a loan from the European Investment Bank, an EU subsidy, the budgets of local governments and the general subsidy reserve.
