More home completions in December

The number of homes completed in December 2011 increased 24.5% in comparison to the corresponding period of 2010 and it stood at 17,681 units, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). Compared to November 2011, home completions increased 32.2%.
There were 9,112 home starts in December 2011, up by 13.3% year on year and 20% down relative to November 2011. The number of housing units for which construction permits were issued increased by 10.5% from November to 15,329. Relative to November 2011, this figure represented a 21.9% rise.
