Warsaw station project one step closer
2012-01-26
The rail company Polskie Koleje Panstwowe (PKP) and the firm
HB Reavis have obtained the consent of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection to collaborate together on the construction of a new Warszawa Zachodnia (Warsaw West) railway station building.
The anti-monopoly authority decided that the creation of a new company
West Station Investment for the purpose of carrying out the undertaking would not restrict competition on the market. According to the project specifications, the new railway station will be located underground and the entrance to the station lobby will be located in a glass pavilion. Besides the station building itself there are also plans to erect seven office buildings located on the Jerozolimskie Avenue side. These structures will have a combined surface of just under 17,000 m². The undertaking as a whole will require estimated expenditure of PLN 110m (€25.6m). The station is to be completed by 2014, while the office buildings are to be in place by 2017.
