Ready-mixed concrete market increased by 28% in 2011
2012-02-20
In 2011 the ready-mixed concrete market grew by 28%, according to data from the Polish Association of Ready-Mixed Concrete Producers (SPBT). Estimated figures show that a total of approximately 23.7 million m
3 of ready-mixed concrete were produced in Poland last year.
SPBT believes that the upward trend was due to the culmination of infrastructure projects and an increase in housing construction investments. Another positive factor were the good weather conditions in the country, which meant an extended construction season.
In December 2011 output of ready-mixed concrete totalled just under 1.5 million m
3 in quantitative terms, which translates into a jump of 161% compared with the corresponding month of 2010. This improvement was the result of the excellent state of the ready-mixed producer segment, which in turn was a consequence of strong demand for the material and positive weather conditions.
In Q4 2011, output of ready-mixed cement amounted to just under 6.1 million m
3, which was the highest figure in the last three years. Compared with the final quarter of 2010 output has thus increased by 30%.
