PKE planning power unit in Bielsko-Biala

Poludniowy Koncern Energetyczny (PKE) intends to build a new power unit on the site of a power station in Bielsko-Biala. The general contractor for the undertaking is Polimex-Mostostal.
The unit will have a power-generating capacity of 50 MW and will operate on a cogeneration basis at the Bielsko-Biala complex of power stations, in EC1. The estimated cost of the investment is PLN 593.9m (€148.1m). It will be equipped with a fluidised boiler, two peak-load boilers, a back-pressure turbine as well as a thermal accumulator. The construction work is due to begin in May 2010 and is expected to be ready for service by the first half of 2013.
