Major road investment in Wloclawek
2010-02-01
Wloclawek's local authorities are planning to overhaul a fragment of national road 1 running through the centre of the town. The local government has just signed a contract worth PLN 39.5m (€10m) with a consortium comprising
Aprivia,
Hydrobudowa Polska,
Przedsiebiorstwo Robot Inzynieryjno-Drogowych and the company
Husar Budownictwo Inzynieryjne.
In this stage of the undertaking the consortium will upgrade a 2 km section of the road. They will refurbish both carriageways of "route one" near the bus and railway stations. There are also plans to change the road surface and reconstruct the exit roads, bus bays and shelters as well as pavements. The revamp will also involve changing the traffic lights and street lights, building and modernising rain collectors and channels and building an outlet for them into the River Zglowiaczki. Underground passageways for pedestrians in the area around the bus and railway stations will also be renovated. The deadline for completing the investment is 30 June 2011.
The town's administration hopes to upgrade the entire 14.5 kilometre stretch of national road no. 1 in Wloclawek. The undertaking as a whole will cost an estimated PLN 280m (€69m), 47% of which will be covered by EU funds, and the rest by bonds issued by the local government.
