UOKiK punishes door and paint producers
2010-02-07
The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has imposed fines totalling almost PLN 8m (€1.9m) on manufacturers and distributors of doors, paints and varnishes for entering into unlawful agreements.
The Office has penalised
Fabryka Farb i Lakierow Sniezka (PLN 6.73m) and the burglar-proof door producer
Gerda (PLN 1.24m or €0.3m) as well as their distributors for setting flat prices for their products. These decisions are not final and the companies are entitled to appeal to the Court of Competition and Consumer Protection. Sniezka has already exercised its right to contest its fine. The company believes that the UOKiK ruling is in violation of the law and was based on a unilateral interpretation of the contractual clauses.
