Radom railway station to be refurbished in near future

Polish State Railways (PKP) intends to revamp Radom railway station. The task of preparing the modernisation project has been entrusted to the firm
Metropolis, which emerged victor in a recent tender in which seven other firms took part.
The renovation will involve changing the roof of the building as well as the doors, windows and flooring. All tele-technical, electrical and sanitary fixtures and fittings will likewise be replaced. In addition, the station's plaster, wall panels, ceilings and floors will be refreshed. There are also plans to build toilets for passengers and rooms for mothers with children and adapt the railway complex for the needs of the disabled.
According to the investment timetable for Radom, the design deliverables for the reconstruction work should be ready by the end of June. The tender to choose the contractor for the renovation is scheduled to take place in Q3 2010. The construction work itself will begin toward the end of this year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012. The undertaking will cost roughly PLN 12.7m (€3.1m).
