Decrease in number of flats completed in January

A total of 11,681 units were completed in January 2010, which represents a drop of 47.1% compared with the corresponding month of 2009, the Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported.
In January this year construction work began on 4,450 flats, i.e. 24.8% fewer than in January 2009 and down 47% on December last year. Meanwhile, 10,590 construction permits were issued in January this year, i.e. 14.7% fewer than 12 months' previously and a decline of 27.5% in relation to December 2009.
