The cost of buying all the materials needed to construct a 152 m² standard house stood at just over PLN 145,000 (€36,250) in January 2010, which translates into a drop of close to 10% vis a vis the corresponding period of 2009, according to Rzeczpospolita, based on figures provided by Polskie Sklady Budowlane.
Compared with December 2009 the cost of buying materials in January 2010 was over PLN 1,200 (€300) cheaper. In January, air bricks and cellular bricks dropped in price by 2%. Customers also had to pay 3% less for mineral wool and plasterboard. Roof tiles declined most in price during this period, i.e. down by around 5%. On the other hand reinforcement bars rose most in price in relation to December - they were between 2.8% and 3% dearer, depending on the type.
Building supplies stores and warehouses suffered a sharp drop in sales revenues during this period, dropping by 15-20% in comparison with January 2009 and down by 20-30% in relation to December 2009.
