Large-scale road investment in Krakow
2010-03-02
A major overhaul of Ofiar Katynia roundabout in Krakow will begin in the near future. The task of carrying out the undertaking, valued at PLN 121m (€30.8m), has been entrusted to a consortium headed by
Radko, PAP reported.
The roundabout is located at the entry point into the city from the A4 motorway and national road No. 94 and forms part of the Krakow third bypass. It will be turned into a three-level interchange, the first part of which - an underground tunnel along Jasnogorska and Armii Krajowej Streets - will be ready before the end of 2010. The undertaking will also involve building a 400-metre overpass above an intersection servicing local traffic, constructing bike paths, refurbishing pavements, installing acoustic screens and replacing underground installations. The roundabout as a whole will be in place by 2011.
