Extension envisaged for Wilanowska Avenue
2010-03-02
Warsaw's city administration is planning to expand Wilanowska Avenue, which will run from the centre of the capital in the direction of the town of Konstancin-Jeziorna.
The undertaking will involve reconstructing a 1.8 km stretch of the avenue from Dolina Sluzewiecka Street up to the intersection with Sobieskiego Street. There are also plans to modernise the existing southbound carriageway and build a new northbound carriageway. Both arteries will have two lanes of traffic divided by a lane of road lighting in between. The investment will likewise entail building new pavements, bus lanes and drainage facilities as well as installing acoustic screens. The cost of the investment, which will be partly financed by the European Regional Development Fund, will exceed PLN 53m (€13.5m). The construction work is slated for completion by June 2010.
