Gdansk theatre extension set to cost PLN 80m
2010-03-04
Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre is to be expanded on land formerly occupied by an old fencing school in Gdansk. The investment will require a budget of PLN 81m (€20.7m) and the city has just announced a tender to choose a project manager for the undertaking.
The project will involve erecting a building with an opening roof, which will contain two stages, one of which will be a mobile construction. They will be able to accommodate audiences of up to 450. A tender to choose a contractor for the new building will be announced in May and settled in September this year. The work will begin shortly afterwards and take until Q3 2012 to complete. EU funds will cover 75% of the total value of the investment. The remaining sum will come from the city budget and the voivodship.
