Contractor chosen for Wroclaw station overhaul
2010-03-05
The historic complex of buildings making up Wroclaw Central Railway Station is to undergo restoration work. The task of carrying out the project has been entrusted to a consortium comprising the firms
Budimex and
Ferrovial Agroman, which will be paid PLN 265.7m (€68m) for completing the work.
The spatial layout of the station is to be completely restructured. The station will be adapted to the needs of disabled passengers, and both escalators and camera surveillance facilities installed. The square in front of the station will also be given a new lease of life – among other things restaurant terraces will be installed at the front of the square. There are also plans to build an underground parking garage with room for up to 200 vehicles as well as renovate station shelters and platforms. The investment is due to get underway in March and take until Q1 2012 to complete. Passenger services will be relocated to a temporary station for the duration of the reconstruction work.
