A total of 14 firms and consortia have been admitted to the second stage of a tender to build the Trasa Nowohucka road in Krakow. The route, which will form part of the S7 express road, will function as the city's east bypass, according to PAP.
The winning contractor will be responsible for constructing a fragment of road between the Rybitwy and Igolomska junctions as well as for building a bridge over the River Vistula. The 4.5 km route will be a dual-carriageway. There are also plans to put up two cable-stayed bridges over the Vistula, two two-level road junctions, five overpasses and two pedestrian crossings. The undertaking will cost in excess of PLN 850m (€212.5m), according to estimates. The project is expected to be completed by 2012-2013.
