Flood-retention reservoir in Raciborz

Construction work on the Raciborz Dolny flood retention reservoir, which will be one of the most important features of the Oder Valley flood protection system, is expected to begin in mid 2011, PAP reported.
According to the project guidelines, the reservoir will be able to hold up to approximately 185 million m
3 of water, and the investment is designed to limit the danger of flood waves on the Oder and the Lusatian Neisse. The undertaking will be carried out in stages and the deadline for completing all the necessary work is Q4 2015. The reservoir will require a budget of €336m, and the funds will be provided by, among others, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the EU's Infrastructure and Environment programme and the Council of Europe Development Bank.
