New taxiway at Jasionka airport by 2011

2010-04-26

The authorities of Rzeszow-Jasionka airport are planning to build a new taxiway and an aircraft de-icing area. The task of carrying out the undertaking has been entrusted to Skanska, which will be paid over PLN 35m (€9m) for its services, PAP reported.
According to the airport authorities, the construction of the new taxiway will allow the airport to handle a dozen or so aircraft simultaneously and the de-icing station may function as an additional parking bay. The deadline for completing the investment is H2 2011 and the project will be subsidised by the EU. In addition to these undertakings, there are also plans to build a new passenger terminal at the airport – a tender is currently in progress to choose a contractor for this task. The terminal should be in place by 2012, i.e. before the commencement of the Euro 2012 football tournament. The investment will require a budget in the region of PLN 100m (€25.8m).
