Preparations for new stadium in Ostroda
2010-04-30
A sports complex and football stadium are to be built in Ostroda, which will allow the town to apply for the status of a base camp during the Euro 2012 football tournament. The official cornerstone laying ceremony took place on 23 April, PAP reported.
The complex will be erected on a site roughly 7 ha in size located on the shore of Lake Drweckie. Lying at the centre of the complex will be the football stadium, which will have a heated pitch and roofed stands holding over 5,000 spectators. In addition, a training pitch with artificial surface will be located nearby together with support buildings containing conference rooms, a fitness centre and locker rooms and facilities for referees and trainers. The complex will likewise feature tennis courts, an ice rink, a climbing wall and a skateboard ramp. The investment is slated for completion in 2011 and will require outlays of approximately PLN 32m (€8.2m).
