Location approval for Warsaw East Station

The regional authorities of Mazovia have issued location approval for the overhaul of Warsaw East (Warszawa Wschodnia) railway station, PAP reported, citing the voivodship office in Warsaw.
Within the framework of the undertaking buildings servicing both suburban and long-distance services will be overhauled. In addition, there are plans to transform the spatial layout of the buildings without changing their size or the number of their floors. Furthermore, water-sewage, electrical and ventilation systems will be replaced, and the platforms, station interiors, halls and corridors revamped. Furthermore, the area around the complex will be cleaned up – new lighting will be installed and fresh greenery planted and benches purchased. According to estimates, the investment will require outlays in the region of PLN 45m (€11m) and the station should be ready in time to handle fans during the Euro 2012 football tournament.
