A new border crossing with Ukraine is to be built in the town of Budomierz in the Podkarpacie region. The contractor for the investment, set to cost PLN 140m (€35m), is the company
Erbud, PAP reported.
A total of eight customs lanes will be built in both directions: on each side there will be four lanes for passenger vehicles and two each for lorries and coaches. The crossing will have a throughput capacity of around 3,000 cars and 8,000 persons a day. According to the plans drawn up for the project, in addition to the main building the crossing will also feature a waste water treatment unit, a water intake and approach roads and all the infrastructure will be located on the Polish side. The crossing should be ready prior to the start of the Euro 2012 football tournament.
