Three bids to overhaul Warsaw Stadium railway station
2010-06-25
Three firms are vying to win a tender to choose a contractor to reconstruct Warsaw Stadium (Warszawa Stadion) railway station.
The cheapest bid is approximately PLN 6m (€1.5m), while the cost estimate prepared by the investor, i.e. the company PKP, envisaged expenditure in the region of PLN 10m (€2.4m). The station will become a major transport hub during the Euro 2012 football tournament – it will be here that fans heading for the National Stadium will arrive. The station will be given a more aesthetic look: a new entrance to the main lobby will be built, the passenger service area will be refreshed and new flooring installed. Furthermore, the station will be equipped with new public address and passenger information systems as well as video surveillance cameras. The building will also be adapted to the needs of the disabled. The investment is slated for completion by the first quarter of 2012.
