The local governments of Gdansk and Slupsk have been awarded more than PLN 75m (€18.3m) in total in EU subsidies to revamp their cities.

It has obtained a subsidy of approximately PLN 20m (€4.9m) to refresh Letnica district, where a sports stadium that will host Euro 2012 matches is currently under construction. Another PLN 11.5m (€2.8m) in EU cash will go towards renovating Nowy Port district – located in the register of monuments of the historic port settlement. A further PLN 20.5m (€5m) will be spent on revitalising Dolny Wrzeszcz and over PLN 6.5m (€1.6m) in EU aid will cover the renovation of buildings in Dolne Miasto (the south-east section of Srodmiescie district).
Meanwhile, the authorities in Slupsk plan to restore the Trakt Ksiazecy – 70% of the money needed for this project will be covered by an EU subsidy. In addition, the town's historic buildings and monuments will undergo a facelift and the local authorities also plan to implement a number of ecological solutions in public institutions and offices.
