Asking prices of flats slightly down in May
2010-07-05
Average asking prices were down in 14 out of 18 largest cities in Poland. This trend can continue in the coming months because the summer season is traditionally a slow selling season in the housing market, as demonstrated by a report drafted by oferty.net and Open Finance.
The steepest decline in May m-o-m was reported for Bialystok (-4.3%), Katowice and Gorzow Wielkopolski (each down by 3%). However, average asking prices remained unchanged in Bydgoszcz and Kielce, while there have been limited rises in prices in Lodz and Warsaw. Analysts of the oferty.net web portal expect that a small number of transactions during the summer can lead to asking prices dropping further as they are now still too high for the bulk of customers interested in buying a flat.
