New projects in the pipeline for the Katowice Special Economic Zone

More and more firms are lining up investments in the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSSE),
Puls Biznesu reported. In H1 2010 11 companies decided to set up projects in the zone. So far two firms have already been issued licences for the third quarter of this year. The first of these is
Magneti Marelli Suspension Systems, a manufacturer of car systems and components. The enterprise is planning to inject PLN 90m (€22.1m) into new production lines in its factory in Bielsko-Biala.
The second investor is
MDM NT, a company owned by the
MDM group, which produces roof accessories, membranes and foil. It plans to invest PLN 30m (€7.4m) in a project in the zone.
Moreover, a number of other firms will launch undertakings in the KSSE before the end of the year, including
Brembo, which will assemble a new line for brake disks (PLN 240m or €58.9m),
Lear Corporation, which is planning to set up a new production line for car seating at a cost of PLN 36m (€8.8m), and
Guardian Automotive, which intends to broaden its production (PLN 25m or €6.1m). In addition, the glass manufacturer
Stolzle is preparing a PLN 150m (€36.8m) venture in the zone. In total, the president of the Katowice Zone has announced 15 investments this year worth in total PLN 1bn (€245.7m) and expected to create 1,500 new jobs.
