Urban planning-architectonic concept approved for Granary Island in Gdansk
2010-07-19
The local authorities in Gdansk have accepted a new urban-planning-architectonic development concept for the northern part of the city's Granary Island (Wyspa Spichrzow). The move was an important precondition before any preliminary contract could be concluded between the city and
Polnord. The next step will involve making changes to the spatial development plan that is to be adopted in the fourth quarter of 2010 as well as setting up a special-purpose vehicle in which the city will control a 49% stake and Polnord 51%. In addition, the city will contribute land worth PLN 59m (€14.3m) and Polnord will put up cash of equivalent value.
As
Polish Construction Review reported earlier, the PLN 450m (€109.2m) undertaking will involve, among other things, constructing residential buildings, hotels and commercial-retail-office space. Moreover, there are also plans to build public infrastructure, including an Amber Museum, which Polnord will also be responsible for building.
