Construction contracts signed for two sections of the A1 motorway in Lodzkie voivodship
2010-07-20
On 9 July this year contracts were inked with contractors that will be responsible for building two stretches of the A1 motorway: Kowal-Sojki and Kotliska-Piatek. The total cost of the investment will exceed PLN 1.3bn (€319.4m). The deadline for completing the projects is the end of April 2012.
The Kowal-Sojki and Kotliska-Piatek fragments will "round off" the 144-kilometre section of the A1 motorway between Torun and the Strykow junction near Lodz. The first fragment will be 30 km in length and require expenditure of over PLN 800m (€196.5m). The task of completing this section has been assigned to a consortium comprising three Irish firms:
SRB Civil Engineering,
John Sisk & Son and
Roadbridge,
as well as the Polish company
Budbam. Meanwhile, the 9-kilometre fragment from Kotliska to Piatek, set to cost in excess of PLN 512m (€125.8m), will be the responsibility of a consortium formed by the Polish enterprise
Sando Budownictwo Polska and the Spanish company
Construcciones Sanchez Dominguez-Sando.
Contracts have so far been concluded for 1,511 km of motorway and express road (including 702 km of motorway), all of which should be in place prior to
Euro 2012.
