Signs of recovery on joinery market
2010-08-23
Since midway through 2010 the outlook on the joinery market has begun to brighten,
Puls Biznesu reported.
The first six months of this year were not easy for this sector of the economy. Just under 5.2 million windows were produced in Poland during this period, i.e. 5% fewer than during the corresponding months of 2009. Foreign sales also suffered at the beginning of the year, although they did begin to pick up in March. More than 1.4 million windows were exported in H1, as against 1.35 units 12 months previously. Producers of construction joinery managed to make up for the losses they suffered in the first quarter of this year and hope that the results for 2010 as a whole will be good. Sales have been boosted by the upturn in single-and multi-family residential construction and the situation is also becoming more promising on foreign markets.
