Supreme Chamber of Control: investment projects for Euro 2012 run behind the schedule

Many projects executed as part of the preparations for the approaching Euro 2012 football championships have fallen behind the schedule, while around 28% of the planned projects have been postponed until after 2012, according to the findings of a report by the Supreme Chamber of Control (NIK).
The report released by NIK states that as many as 52 investment tasks, of 127 projects subject to inspection, are delayed. These projects include construction and reconstruction of roads, railway stations, airports and railway lines. 36 projects, including expressway construction and municipal transportations projects, are expected to be completed only after the tournament is over. 40 investment tasks have been postponed until January-May 2012, which can result in them not being ready before
Euro 2012 in the event of even slight delays in the future. These projects comprise 15 transportation infrastructure tasks in cities hosting the games, seven railway station projects, six motorway construction projects, five expressway construction projects, four railway line tasks and three airport projects.
