Swidnik airport gains environmental approval

Port Lotniczy Lublin has secured the environmental approval it needs to begin building an airport in Swidnik, PAP announced.
The airport will have a runway roughly 2.5 km in length. The complex will occupy an area of over 300 ha and is expected to handle over 2 million passengers a year.
The environmental decision allows Port Lotniczy Lublin to apply to the voivodship authorities for a construction permit for the airport. If everything goes according to plan the project may get underway before the end of the year. The undertaking will take until 2012 to complete.
