Expansion of Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz set to cost more than PLN 78m

The Academy of Fine Arts (ASP) in Lodz is planning to put up two new buildings, according to PAP. The project, the contractor for which is a consortium formed by the companies
Budimex and
Ferrovial Agroman, is estimated to be worth over PLN 78m (€20m).
According to the project specifications, the two new buildings will serve as the seats of the Fashion Promotion Centre (CPM) and the Arts and Sciences Centre (CNiS). The buildings have been designed in such a way as to form a compact complex. The CNiS centre will feature a library containing, among other things, academic and periodical reading rooms, a digital archive, facilities for digitising current and future library resources, and an ASP gallery. In turn, the CPM building will include a multi-purpose auditorium and a professional hall for fashion shows with a photo studio and dressing rooms.
The investment will be supported with EU funding totalling more than PLN 64.2m (€16.2m). The launch-date for the project is September this year and the work should be finished by the final quarter of 2012.
